It’s taken a long time to find new premises for Sky Fans; the ideal workshop layout with a good flow between the different areas and enough space to display our unique ceiling fans. Place to lay out plans and chat about what size fan should go where, and to view the wide range of finishes.
A tandem garage was perfect back in 1997 when we designed and made our first Colonial Paddle Fans: surrounded by piles of timber paddles, hand-finished wood and metal components hanging from the ceiling beams in neat rows, motors stacked high, we learned the craft of making (and balancing) our hand made timber ceiling fans.
From there we expanded to take over the adjacent property and we’ve been there ever since, enjoying the peace and quiet of working in the suburbs.
In the last 6 years we’ve added other fans to our own ‘hand-crafted in Cape Town’ range of ceiling fans; Fanimation USA fans and Casa German fans have both become popular additions to our range – and storage space was tight.
Now we have more space to handcraft our unique ceiling fans, to spread out and expand our ideas, and for storage. What a breath of fresh air! Still loads to do and sort out as we settle into our new space, but it feels good and everyone’s finding their feet as we get stuck into 2017.
